美东时间2025年3月29日晚8点，美西时间3月29日下午5时，北京时间3月30日上午9时，来自美国和中国十几所知名高校的专家学者在线上齐聚一堂，共同参加由美国中美后现代发展研究院主办的过程哲学视域下的语言学研究暨鲁枢元教授语言学思想国际研讨会。《超越语言》初版责编、中国社会科学院研究员、中国当代文学研究会会长白烨在发言中说，鲁枢元的这本书，在语言表述上也实践了他在书中主张的奔放不羁的话语风格。书中概念或许并不严谨，逻辑或许并不周全，但他的立意却是明白无误的：维护文学言语、就是维护人类语言的“个体性”“心灵性”“创化性”“流变性”，也就是维护人的存在、维护人的生命存在、精神存在，维护人类健全的精神生态。

一部极具现实意义的旧作
—— 重读鲁枢元的《超越语言》

各位尊敬的专家、学者：
上午好！
我是鲁枢元教授《超越语言》这部书初版的责任编辑，最近中美时报出版社推出这部书的英文版（Transcendence inLanguage），作为一位老出版人，请允许我首先向作者、译者及美中时报出版社表示热烈的祝贺。
应鲁教授的邀约我曾为这本书的初版撰写过一篇《序言》，开会之前我将这篇序言重新浏览一遍，令我心中暗暗惊奇的是：我在35年前关于这本书说下的一些话并不过时，不仅不过时，面对人工智能、AI技术浪潮的冲击，应该说更是“适逢其时”！
当年我曾指出：鲁枢元面对结构主义语言学精心编织的气势磅礴的理论大网，指出它过分崇尚“逻辑”和“实证”的手段，虽则获得理论上的“科学性”，却失去了社会的、个体的、情感到、心灵的的许多精细微妙的东西，忽略了人的精神的丰富性和自由性，在文学艺术研究领域留下诸多漏洞。他在书中形象地写道：“结构主义批评朝着文学的海洋吃力地撒下一张沉重的网，拖上来的仅是一个庞大的鱼的骨架。”
只重视语言的“科学性”而排斥语言的“个体性”，从而忽略了文学中主体心灵的创造过程、排斥掉言语个体的独特风格，这是鲁枢元深以为憾的。
在这部书写作之前，鲁枢元对现代心理学已经钻研多年，已经出版过两部文艺心理学论著：《创作心理研究》和《文艺心理阐释》，他对人类心灵的复杂性、人类个体心理活动的隐秘性有着充分的估量。在这《超越语言》中，他坚持在心理学的屏幕上观照文学言语的起源与内涵、探求个体言语的发生与创化的过程。无论是言语在作家心灵中的萌发，还是言语通过写作在“文本”上的“定形”，以至到鉴赏者在历史长河中接受性的阅读与理解，他都把它看作是作家个体匠心独运的创造过程。他特别注意发掘言语现象之中、之下和背后潜藏着的生活世界和生命世界，探悉文学言语中深蕴的人性和诗性，从而使他的言语理论以生气贯注的灵性和活力，更加切合文学艺术的审美特征和内在规律。
在鲁枢元看来，生命、言语、诗性原本是三位一体的东西：“语言是人类存在的‘家园’，是人类经验的‘库房’”；“是人类的生命意识之流”；“文学是语言充满激情的舞蹈，是在深渊与峰巅之间的沉潜与升腾”；“语言的天地中包笼着人性的幽蔽和精神的澄明”；“真正的语言是诗的语言，真正的诗性是人的本性，人类将在语言的虹桥上走进诗意的人生”。
鲁枢元的这本书，在语言表述上也实践了他在书中主张的奔放不羁的话语风格。书中概念或许并不严谨，逻辑或许并不周全，但他的立意却是明白无误的：维护文学言语、就是维护人类语言的“个体性”、“心灵性”、“创化性”、“流变性”，也就是维护人的存在、维护人的生命存在、精神存在，维护人类健全的精神生态。
鲁枢元在这部书中刻意强调的东西，恰恰是当前的AI技术有意回避的难题或无力攻破的难关。诸位如果能够静下心来仔细读一读，就会发现：面对不可一世的人工智能与AI技术，《超越语言》这部30多年前的旧作仍然具有不可小觑的现实意义！
《超越语言》一书之所以能够拥有持续的生命力，正如作者在初版题记中向我们诉说的，他写作此书凭借的不只是知识与学问，而是他的生命：一条个体的生命、一颗神往的心！中国前文化部长王蒙先生特意撰文指出：这是一种“缘木求鱼”绝路求生的精神！这种精神应该是超越了当下人工智能的数据库与计算力的。
当年我曾在序言中指出：《超越语言》对于盛行的结构主义语言学实际上是一份颇具份量的“挑战书”。今天看来，《超越语言》英文版的面世，也可以视为向以AI技术为代表的科技霸权的《宣战书》！

Abstract
I am the editor-in-chargeof the first Chinese edition of Lu Shuyuan’s 超越语言 and the author of theforeword. I believes thatthe comments I made in the foreword—Lu Shuyuan’s critical study ofstructuralist linguistics, which underlines only the scientificity of languageand excludes the individuality, so that ignoring the creative process of thesubject’s mind in literature and rejecting the unique style of the individualspeaker, as well as to maintain literary language is not only to maintain theindividuality, spirituality, creativity and fluidity of human language, but tomaintain the beings of human, human life and spirit, and a sound spiritualecology of human—are of vital importance to the creation of literature and art.
I was surprised to find that after more than 30 years,what Lu Shuyuan deliberately emphasizes in this book is precisely the challengethat current AI technology intentionally avoids or is unable to break through.In the flood of the unrivaled AI technology, 超越语言, an old but classic work of more than 30 years ago,still has a great relevance on today’s world that cannot be underestimated! Ipointed out in the foreword that 超越语言 is actually a significant challenge to the prevailing structuralistlinguistics at that time, and today, the release of the English edition can beregarded as a declaration of war against the hegemony of science and technologyrepresented by AI technology!

Good morning!
I am the editor-in-charge of the first Chinese editionof Prof. Lu Shuyuan’s 超越语言.Last year, Sino-US Times Inc., Publishers released theEnglish edition of this book (Transcendence in Language), and as aveteran editor, please allow me to extend my warmest congratulations to theauthor, the translator, and the publisher.
At the invitation of Prof. Lu, I wrote a foreword forthe first edition 35 years ago. Shortly before today’s seminar, I have browsedthrough the foreword again, and what surprised me is that my ideas 35 years agoare not outdated—not only are they not outdated, but in the flood of AItechnology, it should be said that they are even more timely!
I made some comments in the foreword: Lu Shuyuan,faced with the magnificent theoretical net elaborately woven by structuralistlinguistics, pointed out that it excessively emphasized the means of logic andempirical evidence, and although it gained theoretical scientificity, it losesmany delicate and subtle things of the society, individual, emotion and mind,ignores the richness and freedom of the human spirit, and leaves a lot ofloopholes in the field of literature and art research. As in his book, Luwrites figuratively, structuralist criticism casts a heavy net toward the oceanof literature, and what it drags up is only a huge fish skeleton.
When faced with structuralist linguistics’ onlyemphasis of the scientificity of language and exclusion of the individuality,ignoring the creative process of the subject’s mind in literature and rejectingthe unique style of the individual speaker, Lu Shuyuan tries to make somechanges.
Prior to the writing of 超越语言, Lu Shuyuan had been studying modern psychology formany years, and had already published 创作心理研究(A Psychological Study of Creation) and 文艺心理阐释 (A Psychological Interpretation of Literature andArt) in which he had a full appreciation of the complexity of the humanmind and the hidden nature of human psychological activities. In the 超越语言, he insists on exploring the origin and connotationof literary speech in the perspective of psychology, and the process of theoccurrence and creation of individual speech. Whether it is the germination ofspeech in the writer’s mind, the formation of speech in the text throughwriting, or the receptive reading and understanding of the reader in the longhistory, he regards each of them as the creative process of the writer’singenuity. He pays close attention to discovering the world of life and theworld of living hidden in, under and behind the phenomenon of speech, andprobes into the deep humanity and poetics of literary speech, so that histheory of speech is infused with vitality and spirituality, and is more in linewith the aesthetic characteristics and inherent logic of literature and art.
In Lu Shuyuan’s view, life, speech, and poetics wereoriginally of a trinity: Language is the house of human being, the repositoryof human experience, and the stream of human life consciousness; Literature isthe passionate dance of language, the submergence and ascension between theabyss and the summit, and the heaven and earth of language encompasses theobscurity of human nature and the clarity of spirituality; The true language isthe language of poetry, the true poetics is the nature of human, and human willexperience a poetic life on the rainbow bridge of language.
Lu Shuyuan’s book also practiced the unrestrainedstyle of discourse he advocated in his linguistic presentation. The concepts inthe book may not be rigorous, the logic may not be well thought out, but hisintention is unmistakable, that is, to maintain literary language is not onlyto maintain the individuality, spirituality, creativity and fluidity of humanlanguage, but to maintain the beings of human, human life and spirit, and asound spiritual ecology of human.
What Lu Shuyuan deliberately emphasizes in this bookis precisely the challenge that current AI technology intentionally avoids oris unable to break through. If you can quietly and carefully make a reflection,you will find that in the face of the unparalleled AI technology, 超越语言, an old but classic work of more than 30 years ago,still has a great relevance on today’s world that cannot be underestimated!
The reason why the book has sustained vitality isthat, as Lu tells us in the title of the first edition, not only knowledge andlearning, but his being, an individual life and a heart of yearning, contributeto his writing! Wang Meng, former Minister of Culture of China, specially wrotean article to point out that this is a kind of spirit of “seeking fish from atree” to survive! This spirit can transcend the database and computationalpower of AI.
Back then, I pointed out in the foreword that 超越语言 is actually a significant challenge to the prevailingstructuralist linguistics. Today, the release of the English edition can alsobe regarded as a declaration of war against the hegemony of science andtechnology represented by AI technology!
