[Press Release]
From May 29 to June 4, 2025, internationally acclaimedartist and President of the Greater American Institute of Art, Dr. Lily GaiaYe, will hold her large-scale solo exhibition Ancient Shu, Mystic Universe: AThousand Lights of Golden Dreams at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Japan.Centered on nine divine figures rendered in oil and mixed media, the exhibitiontraverses the ancient Shu civilization and global mythologies, weaving togetherbronze-age imagery, stellar geometry, and primordial symbols. Through a refinedorchestration of image logic and philosophical algorithms, Dr. Ye unfolds avisual narrative that transcends time and culture, presenting a contemporaryinterpretation of civilizational memory.

Guided by the curatorial concept “Art and Archaeology inTandem: Awakening the Sleeping Memory of Civilizations,” the exhibitionreflects Dr. Ye’s years of in-depth research and reimagining of the Sanxingduiculture. She employs painterly gestures to interpret image languages, reconstructing visual structures and embedding civilizational metaphors. Sacredimagery, celestial trajectories, and the silhouette of a maiden intertwine onher canvases, forming a “mystical visual realm” that bridges dimensions of timeand perception. The nine paintings unite to create an epic visual poem thatspeaks across civilizations and languages.
As the first exhibition in the contemporary art sceneto visually present nine archetypal deities from global ancient civilizations, this series encompasses spiritual lineages from Daoism, Greek mythology,Sumerian cosmology, Egyptian iconography, Mayan symbols, and Buddhisttraditions. Six female goddesses and three male deities appear throughout theseries, expressed through bronze visual syntax and layered light structures. Thesedivine figures transcend gender, faith, and geography, manifesting Dr. Ye’sunique vision of civilization and her deeply philosophical image theory.

The exhibition alsofeatures the award-winning centerpiece Echoes of Origin, which received theGold Prize at the 18th Tokyo International Calligraphy and Painting Awards.Celebrated for its fusion of Eastern philosophical thinking with visualstructure, the piece has been praised by international art critics as “aspiritual lighthouse linking ancient civilizations to imagined futures.”

Since its founding in 1926, the Tokyo Metropolitan ArtMuseum has hosted works by Gustav Klimt, Henri Matisse, Vincent van Gogh, andother world masters. As one of Asia’s most influential public art institutions, the museum provides a prestigious platform for Ancient Shu, Mystic Universe tounfold. The exhibition serves not only as a profound dialogue between visualart and historical civilizations, but also as a humanistic response to thecultural anxieties of the digital age—demonstrating art’s continued power toexpand cultural boundaries with both capacity and consciousness.
As the founder of the GAIA Meta Art Museum, Dr. Ye has longdedicated herself to using visual art to bridge the realms of human cognitionand consciousness. From the Milan World Expo to the Grand Palais in Paris, fromthe CVPR International AI Art Exhibition to Tokyo’s Grand Awards, she hasanswered the call of civilization through both image and thought. Her artisticwork extends the spiritual connections between the ancient Shu culture and themythic archetypes of world civilizations, establishing a conceptual axis acrossepochs and cultures.
