The press conference for the ‘Asian International Music Festival’, hosted by the Chopin University of Music, was held on the morning of June 7 in the boardroom of the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Poland. Prof. Klaudiusz Baran, President of the Chopin University of Music, announced the inaugural “First Asian International Music Festival of Chopin University of Music ”, set to be held from March 20th to 27th, 2024, in Hainan and Hong Kong, China.

The first Asian International Music Festival of Chopin University of Music is jointly hosted by the Chopin University of Music and the Chopin International Education Group,and organized by the Chopin International Education Group. Prof.Klaudiusz Baran, the President of the Chopin University of Music, serves as the chairman of the festival, while Dr. James P. Wang, Chairman of the Chopin International Education Group, is the executive chairman.
The festival will feature five categories encompassing piano, violin, cello, accordion, and vocal. Participants will be divided into two groups: children's group and youth group. The competition will span across seven regions: Macau, North China, Northeast China, East China, Northwest China, Southwest China, South China, and Central China. The final competition will take place in Hainan and Hong Kong, with the opening ceremony scheduled in Hainan.
During the press conference, President Baran and Dr. Wang introduced the first recommended jury members for the festival.
The first group of judges from the Chopin University of Music are:

Professor Joanna Lawrynowcz-Just, Chairman of the Piano Evaluation Committee

Professor Tomasz Strahl, Chairman of the Cello Evaluation Committee

Professor Adam Zdunikowski, Vocal judge

Professor Rafał Grząka, Accordion judge

Professor Justyna Baran, Violin judge

President Baran himself will serve as the chairman of the festival's jury and as an accordion judge.

Dr. James P. Wang and Monika Karpinska, Chinese affairs adviser to the President of the Chopin University of Music.
The first group of Chinese and international judges are as follows:

Professor Liao Changyong (President of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music), will serve as the chairman and judge of the vocal category in the Asia International Music Festival jury.

Professor Ning Lu (Director of the Piano Department at the School of Music of the University of Utah in the United States) will be a piano judge for contestants aged 15 to 30.

Professor Yun Guo (Director of the Piano Department at the Affiliated Middle School of the China Conservatory of Music) will be the chairperson and judge of the children's piano group for contestants under 14.
President Baran visited Macao, Hainan, and Hong Kong in April 2023. During the press conference, he expressed his belief that with the advancement of the collaborative projects with the Chopin International Education Group in China and the deepening of their cooperation, the various events of the music festival will become more specific. President Baran expressed his great pleasure in cooperating with Chinese and international judges and expressed hopes that this competition will mark an excellent start to their cooperation with their Chinese partner, the Chopin International Education Group.
