Art, as a spiritual reflection of human creation, hasalways been a mirror image of the universe's essence and the meaning of life.It is a unique expression of artists' emotions and thoughts. Throughout thelong history of artistic evolution, there have always been outstanding artistswho dare to break the rules and create artistic masterpieces with newperspectives and ideas to meet the needs of the times. Under the influence ofthe spirit of artistic transformation of the ancestors and the call of the times,I established the emergent art with a new theoretical thinking and creativeapproach, and the "Universe Soul" series of works is a group of worksI created recently in this context.

At the intersection of artand science, the latest philosophical insights and scientific theories offractals, chaos, and emergence have become a powerful trend, providing me withendless possibilities to explore the profound depths of the universe and theboundless possibilities of artistic innovation. Through the creation of the"Universe Soul" series of works, I have transformed my understandingof the essence of the universe from the latest theoretical perspectives offractals, chaos, and emergence into a new artistic concept, and captured andexpressed the boundless magnificence and infinite mystery of the universe in anew way, generating profound reflections on our understanding of the universeand endless imagination, thereby creating a new artistic expression systemcalled "Emergent Art".
The inspiration for the"Universe Soul" series of works came from my profound understandingof the essence of the universe. Before creating the works, I studied andresearched the philosophical and scientific theories of "fractals","chaos", and "emergence" systematically, which made merealize that the universe is a vast and infinite stage of space and time, and awonderful world full of fractals and chaos. The internal operation laws andexternal magnificent scenes of the universe are all full of emergence phenomenaresulting from the interaction between fractals and chaos. Fractals mean thatevery part of the universe contains a miniature version of the whole, whetherit is the rotation of galaxies, the trajectory of planets, or the movement ofmicroscopic particles, all follow similar laws and patterns. Chaos, as revealedby the butterfly effect, reveals the uncertainty and randomness of theuniverse, so that every tiny change may lead to huge impacts. The intertwiningevolution and emergence of fractals and chaos constitutes the essence of theunique charm and mystery of the universe. Driven by this cognitive thinking andcreative inspiration, I used the ancient and profound art medium of ink andwash in the "Universe Soul" series to capture the intertwiningfractal and chaotic essence of the universe and facilitate the creativeemergence process from simplicity to complexity and from microcosm tomacrocosm.
The manifestation offractals and chaos in art is diverse and profound, not only providing artistswith rich sources of inspiration, but also driving the innovation anddevelopment of art forms. The self-similarity and rich detail of fractal theorycan be applied in art, making art exceptionally rich in detail. As the image isenlarged, not only will the details not be lost, but more and more intricatestructures will be revealed. Artists can use the principles of fractals tocreate works with infinite nested structures, and the nested structure of thisstructure makes the image extremely rich.
Chaos is the intertwining ofdisorder and order. Chaos theory emphasizes that every event and existence inthe universe is interconnected and interdependent, thus revealing theuncertainty and randomness of changes in the universe. In a chaotic system, even a tiny change in the initial conditions can lead to significantconsequences. This "butterfly effect" has made me aware of thecomplexity of every event in the universe. Chaos theory emphasizes disorder, nonlinearity, and complexity, and is applied in art to break the rules and symmetry oftraditional art. Chaos art is not pure chaos, but contains profoundevolutionary processes within its disorder. Chaos theory is an inspiration forcreating diverse and ever-changing art forms. By exploring the boundaries oftraditional art through chaos principles, it has sparked my deeper observationand reflection on the possibilities of artistic innovation, seeking new andmore vibrant expressions. This chaotic characteristic has profoundly influencedmy artistic creation.
Fractals and chaos areinterrelated and interdependent. The intertwining of chaos and fractalsconstitutes the unique charm and mystery of the universe. The application offractals and chaos in art is not isolated, and they can be integrated andcombined to create a higher level of complex aesthetics in art creation. Thefusion of fractals and chaos provides us with more artistic innovationinspiration and possibilities, which can drive the innovation and transformationof art forms. The theories of fractals and chaos are providing us with a newperspective and expanding our cognitive dimensions and creative approaches. These theoretical insights are the source of inspiration for my creation of"The Soul of the Universe".
The emergence theory is astronger trend that leads me to explore the profoundness and infinitepossibilities of the universe and art. As the founder of this emerging artmovement, I created the "Universe Soul" series of works to capturethe essence and mysteries of the universe and merge the fractal and chaoticnature of the universe with the emergentist artistic concept to form acomprehensive system of artistic expression, depicting the grandeur and mysteryof the universe in an artistic form and providing people with a profoundunderstanding of the essence and grand scene of the universe.
Based on the abovetheoretical understanding, I abandoned the traditional art's representationalexpression and turned to pursuing an abstract expression of spiritualfluctuations beyond form and color. As my creation progressed, I graduallyformed an emergent art that integrates fractal and chaos and their mutualrelationship, emphasizing the novel, coherent, and irreducible characteristicsthat emerge from the complexity of the system.
When creating the "Soulof the Universe" series, I incorporated the concepts of fractals and chaosthroughout the artistic process. I chose traditional Chinese ink as my medium, not just for its unique flavor and aesthetics, but also to harness its fluidityand permeability to simulate the flow and convergence of energy in theuniverse. Using fractal principles, I used the ink's penetration and diffusionto create a self-similar structure on Xuan paper, which was both a simulationof the fractal characteristics of the universe and a pursuit of freedom andspontaneity in artistic creation. I aimed to capture a surge of energy beyondform and color.
In the creative practice of"Universe Soul," I also drew inspiration from the randomness anduncertainty of chaos theory. During the creative process, I used extremelyspontaneous brushstrokes and left blank spaces without any preconceived ideas. This allowed the ink to flow freely and meander on the rice paper, so that allthe ink particles would be like the basic units of the system, allowing them tointeract and influence each other to produce free grayscale variations, therebyemerging a scene resembling an explosion. These effects may present a visuallychaotic and disordered beauty at first glance, but upon closer observation, onecan discover a subtle order and pattern hidden within, which is a vividembodiment of the "order in disorder" and "disorder inorder" in chaos theory. This non-premeditated and non-controlled creativeapproach is a fine art expression of the spirit of chaos.
In the process of creationand contemplation, I gradually came to realize that in "The Soul of theUniverse," by using the spontaneous and random nonlinear complexinteractions between ink and paper, I could pioneer an artistic exploration ofemergentism and make the creative process itself an emergent process. Thus, itconstitutes the best embodiment of the emergent phenomena in the universe.

As a leading scholar in thecontemporary globalization of the study of the I Ching, I also realize thatthis art form best embodies the fundamental principles of the universe asemphasized in the classical Chinese philosophical classic, the I Ching, such asthe dualism of yin and yang, the game of strategy, transformation, andintegration. If we regard the ink's "black" as "yin" andthe "white space" as "yang," allowing them to interact, blend, and complement each other to present various complex and multifacetedshades of ink color is the best artistic way to simulate the yin-yang energygame, transformation process, and flow of energy in the universe. I deeply feelthat applying the principles of the I Ching to emergent art actually providesthe best depiction of the spiritual essence of the universe, which isconstantly changing and infinite in variety. At the same time, I create acosmic atmosphere through the changes in ink color intensity, moisture, speed, etc., so that viewers can feel a sense of mystery and awe from the depths ofthe universe's soul when appreciating the work. During the creation of"Universe Soul," I felt that every drop of ink falling was like thebirth or death of a star in the universe, and every brushstroke was a delicateand instant emergence of the complex relationships in the universe. Thisnon-premeditated and non-controlled creative approach is exactly the core valueof emergent art, which is "letting art emerge naturally to reveal theessence and mysteries of the universe."
The universe, as a vastliving entity, its every component is constantly growing, changing, and dying, and behind all of this is the driving and guiding force of the Cosmic Soul.During the creative process, I deeply felt that "Cosmic Soul" is notonly an exploration of the material aspect of the universe, but also a pursuitof the spiritual aspect of the universe. I tried to convey a sense of reverenceand insight into the cosmic vitality through my works. My works are a captureand presentation of the Cosmic Soul, transcending the limitations of form andcolor and pointing directly to the essence of the universe and the true meanin of life. I hope that through these works, Ican inspire people to think deeply about issues such as the universe, life, andexistence, and guide them to perceive and understand this complex andmysterious world with an open and inclusive mindset.
From fractals and chaos toemergentism, my artistic journey has been a deep exploration of the essence ofthe universe and the true meaning of art. I know that art is not just a visualpleasure, but a profound understanding and appreciation of the changing essenceof the universe. If asked about my deeper feelings about the emergentism artcreation of "Universe Soul" through the creation of "UniverseSoul", I can briefly answer that in the process of creating "UniverseSoul", I truly felt the fusion and promotion of art and science as themost important innovative path in the AI era. Science provided me with theoriesand methods to understand the universe, while art gave me the language andemotions to express the beauty of the universe. They complement each other andtogether they have pushed me to make further exploration and artisticinnovation in the deep universe. At the same time, I also realize that artcannot only be a purely visual experience, but should stimulate people'sthinking and appreciation of the changing essence of the universe. I try toconvey this appreciation through the creation and display of "UniverseSoul" so that every person who views it can feel the grandeur and mysteryof the universe, and realize the infinite possibilities of human beings'understanding of the universe and the profound reflection on the meaning oflife.
The power of art can enablepeople to transcend the boundaries of time and space, connecting every heartthat is filled with wonder and reverence for the universe, and togetherexploring the mysteries and truths of the universe and life. The innovation andtransformation of art are boundless. In the years to come, at the intersectionof art and science, I will continue to move forward, using the language of emergentart to paint more magnificent pictures about the universe and life. I willcontinue to deepen the exploration and practice of emergent art, furtherpromote the internationalization of emergent art, and lead the innovation andtransformation of international art through more creative and profound works.Provide higher level works to enlighten people to gain new philosophicalcognition, scientific theories and artistic enlightenment to understand theessence of the universe and the meaning of life. At the same time, I hope thatthrough my works, I can inspire people to explore and understand more aboutart, science and philosophy, actively embrace the future, and contribute to theprogress and development of human civilization.
