2019年1月29日，中国驻洛杉矶总领馆举办新春招待会。总领事张平在致辞中表示，在新的一年里，中国驻洛杉矶总领馆将进一步加强与领区各界的联系，不断扩大和深化领区与中国在各个领域的交流与合作。以下是致辞全文：

       瑞犬辞旧岁，金猪迎春来。在2019中国农历新年即将来临之际，今晚我们欢聚一堂，共同庆祝中华民族这一传统佳节。我谨代表中国驻洛杉矶总领馆，向各位来宾并通过你们向领区广大华侨华人、中资机构员工和留学人员，向美国各界朋友，致以节日的问候和美好的祝愿！

       Chinese lunar New Year, the Year of the Pig,is just around the corner. Tonight it is with great joy that we gather here tocelebrate this traditional Chinese festival.

       Firstof all, please allow me to extend, on behalf of the Chinese Consulate Generalin Los Angeles, new year greetings and best wishes to all our distinguishedguests present here and, through you, to all the friends of different walks oflife in our consular district, including members of Chinese community, staff ofthe Chinese enterprises and Chinese students, wishing everyone great happinessand all the success in the coming new year!

       2018年是中国改革开放40周年。一年来，在以习近平总书记为核心的党中央坚强领导下，中国政府沉着应对各种风险挑战,积极深化改革，加大开放力度。中国人民齐心协力，锐意进取，奋力拼博，各项事业取得了新的成就。经济运行保持在合理区间，全年国民生产总值增长达6.6%，各项民生事业加快发展，人民生活持续改善，中国人民幸福感、获得感、安全感进一步增强。

       2018 marked the 40th anniversaryof China’s reform and opening up. During the past year, under the strong leadershipof the CPC Central Committee with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core, theChinese government remained cool headed in dealing with various risks andchallenges and has taken further measures to deepen reform and expandopening-up. The Chinese people have made concerted and unremitting efforts inpursuit of the country’s development and achieved new progress in variousundertakings. China's economy remained in the reasonable range of growth with year-on-yearGDP growth reaching 6.6 percent in 2018. Various efforts to improve people’s livelihoodhave been accelerated and the standard of living has seen further rise. Chinesepeople have a stronger sense of fulfillment and greater happiness, and feelsafer and more secure in a more direct and tangible manner.

       面对百年未有之大变局，中国外交保持定力，不断进取，展现了新气象，体现了新作为，取得了新成果。在习近平外交思想的指引下，我们坚定维护国家利益，深入拓展互利合作，积极推动建设相互尊重、公平正义、合作共赢的新型国际关系，积极致力于同世界各国一道构建人类命运共同体，为促进世界和平与发展作出了重要贡献。

       Amid the profound changes of internationalsituation unseen in a century, China’s diplomacy stayed steadfastly in its setcourse. It opened new prospects, broke new grounds and achieved new progress.Under the guidance of Xi Jinping’s Thought on Diplomacy, we stood firm in safeguardingnational interests, sought active ways to expanded mutually beneficial cooperationwith other countries. We continued to promoted a new type of internationalrelations based on mutual respect, fairness, justice and win-win cooperationand advocate the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind,making important contributions to global peace and development.

       一年来，中美关系牵动世界目光。去年底，习近平主席同特朗普总统在二十国集团领导人峰会期间举行了成功的会晤，双方就共同推进以协调、合作、稳定为基调的中美关系达成重要共识，为中美关系发展指明了方向。

       In the past year, developments in China-USrelations captured global attention. At the end of last year, President XiJinping and President Donald Trump had a successful meeting during the G20Summit. Both leaders agreed to pursue a China-US relationship defined bycoordination, cooperation and stability, and charted the way for addressing theexisting issues between the two countries and promoting the healthy growth ofChina-US relations.

       一年来，中国与领区各地交流合作深入开展，成果显著。120万中国游客来洛杉矶旅游，人数再创新高。欢乐春节、中国-加州商务峰会、中国周、荷花节、中美电影电视节以及“欢乐春节”、“魅力中国”等经贸、文化活动接连不断，亮点纷呈。

       In the past year, sub-national cooperationwitnessed further expansion and new progress within our consular district. LosAngeles welcomed 1.2 million Chinese visitors in 2018, hitting a new recordhigh. Events like Happy Spring Festival Cultural program, California-ChinaBusiness Summit, CHINAWEEK, the Lotus Festival with China being the hostcountry last year, Chinese-American Film and TV Festival and many others werebrought to stage consecutively throughout the year, highlighting the closetrade and cultural ties between our two sides.

       一年来，包括广大侨胞在内的领区各界有识之士怀着中美友好的真诚愿望，积极致力于推动中美交流合作，促进中美相互了解和友谊，为维护和促进中美关系发展发挥了重要作用。广大侨胞热忱关心、积极参与家乡建设发展，弘扬中华文化，促进中国和平统一，成为联系中美的重要纽带，促进合作的重要桥梁，也为促进当地经济社会发展做出了重要贡献。借此机会,我谨向各位来宾以及领区各界朋友表示诚挚的敬意和衷心的感谢。

       Over the past year, out of a sincere aspirationfor better China-US relations, many people in various circles of our consulardistrict, including the Chinese community, devoted themselves to maintainingand developing China-US relations by promoting exchanges and cooperation andenhancing understanding and friendship between our two countries and twopeoples. While contributing their share to the local economic and socialdevelopment here in the US, many Chinese community members have activelyparticipated in the bilateral exchange and cooperation, promoted Chineseculture and peaceful reunification of China, becoming the important bond thatconnects the two peoples together and the important bridge that facilitatescooperation.

       I wish to take this opportunity to paytribute and express profound thanks to them.

       女士们，先生们，

       2019年是中美建交40周年。40年历史证明，中美两国合则两利，斗则俱损，合作是唯一正确选择。中美之间存在着广泛的共同利益。我们要努力排除各种干扰，确保中美关系沿着正确的轨道不断向前发展，决不能让所谓竞争“定义”两国关系，不能让中美关系走上“脱钩”的歧途，更不能滑向对抗的深渊。我们要不断扩大中美地方交流合作，更好地造福两国人民。

       Ladies and gentlemen,

       2019marks the 40th anniversary of establishment of China-US diplomatic relations.The history of four decade long relationship tellsus that our two countries stand to gain from cooperation and lose fromconfrontation. Cooperation is the only right choice. There exists a wide rangeof common interests between China and the US.

       We should rise above various noises toensure that China-US relationship continues to develop along the right track.We shall never allow rivalry to define our bilateral relations, nor shall weallow our relationship derail to the wrong path of de-coupling, let alone toallow it dip into the abyss of confrontation. We need to expand sub nationalcooperation and exchange to bring more benefits to our two peoples.

       2019年也是中国全国人民代表大会常务委员会发表《告台湾同胞书》40周年。不久前，习近平主席发表了重要讲话，全面阐述了我们立足新时代在民族复兴伟大征程中推进祖国和平统一的重大政策主张，具有划时代意义。民族复兴、国家统一是大势所趋、大义所在、民心所向,是任何人任何势力都无法阻挡的。我们要顺应历史大势，在坚持一个中国原则的基础上，不断推动两岸关系和平发展，推进祖国和平统一进程。

       2019 marks the 40th anniversaryof the issuance of Message to Compatriots in Taiwan by the Standing Committeeof China’s National People's Congress. In his recent speech at a gathering tocommemorate the 40th anniversary of its issuance, President XiJinping proposed major policies on advancing the course of China’s peacefulreunification along with the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in thenew era. This is of historical significance. Achieving the national rejuvenation and reunification is the tide of thetime that can never be stopped by anyone or any force. Chinese people acrossthe Taiwan Strait as well as at home and abroad should work together for theChinese nation's greater good and go with the tide of history, and on the basisof One China principle, jointly push forward the peaceful development ofcross-Straits relations and advance the process of the peaceful reunification.

       2019年是中华人民共和国成立70周年，是决胜全面建成小康社会第一个百年奋斗目标的关键之年。70年风雨兼程，中国人民走出了一条符合自身国情的发展道路。70年成就辉煌，中国人民用自己勤劳和智慧，创造了人类发展史上的奇迹。

       新征程上，不管乱云飞渡、风吹浪打，中国人民都将戮力同心，朝着实现中华民族伟大复兴的既定目标奋勇前进。

2019 also marks the 70th anniversary of thefounding of the People’s Republic of China. It is also a crucial year for Chinato realize its first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous societyin all respects. Braving thorny paths and confronting stormy weather over thepast 70 years, the Chinese people have found a development path that fits ourown national conditions; over the last 70 years, through hard work and with ourwisdom, the Chinese people have created many miracles in the human history of development.Looking ahead, no matter what complexities and difficulties we may face on theroad ahead, with rock-solid confidence and unwavering determination, we willcontinue to march forward toward the goal of national rejuvenation.

       新的一年里，中国驻洛杉矶总领馆将进一步加强与领区各界的联系，不断扩大和深化领区与中国在各个领域的交流与合作。我们也将继续本着“外交为民”的宗旨，为各界朋友提供更好的领事服务。我们期待与大家共同努力，希望继续得到大家的支持，相信在中美双方的共同努力和各界朋友的关心和支持下，中美关系以及领区与中国交流合作能取得新的进步。

       In the upcoming new year, the ChineseConsulate General will endeavor to enhance communication with our friends ofvarious circles in our consular district with the aim to further expand anddeepen our exchange and cooperation. We will adhere to the mission of  “serving the people” and do what we can  to provide better consular services. We lookforward to working more closely with our friends and hope we will get yourcontinuous support. It is our belief that with your care and support, we can makefurther stride in China-US relationship as well as the sub-national exchangeand cooperation between China and our consular district.
